Being Rightly Righteous

Some of us must have experienced at one point or another when a certain acquaintance would make snide comments about your failure to act the right way. I for one have experienced this kind of situation when someone I know judged my actions and my convictions as being sinful.

Ironically, these people claim to be righteous since they believe that they are doing thing in accordance to what is written in the Bible. True enough, you could say that they very religious. They pray and they speak of God with almost every time they open their mouth. However, instead of being drawn to them and applauding them for being a follower of God I find myself being repulsed by their actions.

The way they judge others is truly repugnant. Sometimes, I could help but think whom are they trying to convince about their being a righteous person. It seems to me that the extensive efforts they go through are more for appeasing themselves rather than striving even with a modicum of righteousness to bear witness to their faith and become a model to others per se.

True Righteousness

With the way these religious people acts and persecutes others whose faith are contrary to theirs, I do not think that the god they are worshipping would be proud of what they are doing. I may not as prayerful as they are, I may not go to church but I know I have compassion for others. I respect other people’s choices and actions. I do not readily judge other people especially whom I do not know on a personal basis.

I believe that in order to be perceived by other people as a righteous individual, you just have to bear witness in silent ways. You do not have to blow horns and proclaim to everyone that you are a righteous person. The right way to be righteous is being a man or woman of action. Let your actions speak for you. Gain the respect of others by first respecting them and their choices.

If the heart were pure, glory would emanate from within even without saying a single word.
